Microsoft didn’t call it quits when E3 was canceled. They decided to make their announcements with their own touch. In the beginning of their direct, it was stated that everything in their video, and listed below, will come out within the next twelve months: some were long awaited, some brand new.
Redfall
First up on the direct was Redfall. This game, which is set in Redfall, Massachusetts, borders the ocean. It is a horror game with vampires, cultists who wish to be vampires, and, of course, the dead. The story goes that the Vampires pushed back the water, secluding the town. With no ability to reach the outside world, they also blocked the sun. Now you have to save the town and the world with the option to solo or play in multiplayer up to four.
Hollow Knight Silksong
Many people had been waiting for Silksong. Microsoft didn’t reveal much, but it did show cute, sketchy art style. It’s a 2D platform scroller. No release date was given, but they promised you could play day one on Gamepass.
High on Life
If you are a fan of Rick and Morty or Solar Opposites then you might enjoy this game. The creator of those shows, brings you High on Life. You are a humanoid, growing up in an alien drug-cartel. The weapons can talk to you, and hey, who doesn’t want a cartoony style Jabba the hutt?
In the video you can clearly hear the voice actor Justin Roiland. This game is set to be an xbox exclusive launch in October, 2022.
Riot Games
This next announcement comes from Riot Games. Riot has teamed up with Gamepass this winter. The following Games come to Gamepass/Cloud from Riot:
- League of Legends with all Champions unlocked
- LOL Wild Rift, all Champions unlocked
- Valorant all agents unlocked
- Legends of Runeterra, Foundations set unlocked
- Teamfight Tactics, Select little Legends unlocked
A Plague Tale Requiem
Not much was said regarding this game, but they did show video of the main character leading a boy around who can control rats. The trailer did not reveal too much regarding the storyline except that the woman and boy are definitely wanted. Its a stealth adventure game set to release October 18, 2022.
Forza Motorsport
Turn10 Studios brought forth a new Forza game with game changing graphics for racing games. They may have just raised that expectation bar with their new upcoming game. Forza Motorsport has different car options from American Muscle to Indie car and all that is in between. They have made the game Photo real, state of the art technology: real time ray tracing, fully dynamic time of day. They added significant improvements in physics movement. Everything looks and moves as if it was real: Procedural Generation technique and 3D vegetation. When driving the cars, you can see real time reflections that are so realistic from in the cars.
Aside from how realistic the world has appeared, the next step up Studio10 has done is graphically real damage. IF the driver side fender hits a tree or bumps a car, it will have the dirt buildup, scratches, and dents in the cars body where it hit. They’re also added new, in depth car building.
Forza has made a huge reveal with the game; in the spring of 2023, we will see just how true it is.
Flight Simulator
Coming in November, 2022 is the 40th Anniversary of Flight Simulator. In honor of that, Microsoft is releasing a 40th Anniversary edition of Flight Simulator which comes with unique aircrafts. They even promised a Halo Infinite Pelican add-on.
Overwatch 2
Activision revealed that Overwatch 2 was going to be free to play upon launch of Early Access, October 4, 2022. They also revealed a new tank for the game, Junker Queen. The new hero uses a shotgun, an axe, and a knife. Her utility is quite the set.
Ara History Untold
Ara is a strategy, turn based game. Not much was revealed at the direct, but the video was very reminiscent of Civilization.
Elder Scrolls Online
Bethesda kicks off by announcing the new ESO addition. Released June 21st, 2022 on xbox, came High Isle.
Fallout 76
The next addition to Fallout76 was revisiting a previous location. With many requesting it, they brought The Pitt back as a DLC. The Pitt is divided by two factions and you can explore the options in September 2022.
Arc 2
Not much revealed during the direct for Arc 2, but it did show a man who looks like Vin Diesel with a girl whom we can assume is the daughter. Together they were riding a dinosaur. It’s set to launch a console exclusive sometime in 2023.
Scorn
Coming October 21st, 2022 is a new dark game. Scorn looks like The Matrix mated with Portal. The Video didn’t reveal a lot of information, but clearly a puzzle game with the intent to escape.
Flintlock the Siege of Dawn
A new Open World, RPG game, Flintlock is about Gods and guns colliding as the gates to the afterlife are opened. Humanity is on the brink of extinction and you are leading what is left against the army of the undead. You’re objectives are: survive, explore the secrets of the town, Dawn. Flintlock is set to release Early 2023.
Minecraft Legends
Set as an angled top down, like Diablo, Minecraft Legends is a new action, strategy game coming in 2023. You play as a hero from Legends, who unites the overworld against one foe. Skeletons, zombies, and creepers follow you to fight the army from the portal. It seems like you can also build buildings as a defense, or maybe home base.
Lightyear Frontier
Lightyear Frontier is a new exploration. You can harvest, grow, and plant crops to survive. It even has co-op capabilities. The world seems beautiful and with exploration, you learn more about the planet’s history. LYF is set to release the spring of 2023.
Gunfire Reborn
With another cute art style and Roguelite action comes Gunfire Reborn. It can play up to four players, Animal characters and animal enemies. GFR is also a FPS that will be coming to Xbox October 2022. The levels are procedurally generated, RPG and each play through is a different experience.
The Last Case of Benedict Fox
You play as Benedict Fox and explore the secrets of the mansion. It gives off Little Nightmare vibes, and it is a side platform scroller. You solve mysteries and experience the memories of the deceased. Last case is set to release in spring of 2023.
As Dusk Falls
As Dusk Falls is an interactive novel. You can play alone or with up to seven other players. It is designed more for the emotional experience. ADF is more like a soap opera, where you take control of a character and create your own story with the choices you make, which can affect the ending. The Game Style reminds me more of the older graphic games. The characters are a flat art style with more rounded backgrounds. This game drops July 19, 2022.
Naraka
If you enjoy PVP games in a Battle Royal style, Naraka has that with character customization on legendary heroes. You go up against 59 other players in a free for all using martial arts inspired melee combat and a large array of melee and ranged weapons. This game dropped June 23, 2022
Pentiment
Pentiment is another Narrative game with a water color art style. Its kind of a side scroller. The game is story driven, based on choices you make as you try to solve murders and reveal the killers. The game drops November 2022. WARNING: this game contains public executions, stylized gore, suicide, references to abortion, frequent strong language, references to sexual assault, and references to sexual activities.
Grounded
The style is much like A Bug’s Life, where you play as one of four kids. Shrunken to the size of an ant, you explore the wilderness of the grassy backyard and beyond. Find out why you shrunk while crafting and surviving. The bugs and insects respond to your actions. This game drops September 2022.
Ereban Shadow Legacy
The newest Stealth platformer. Play as Ayana, the last descendent of a forgotten race. Avoid or kill to uncover the truth about your past and the key to saving the universe. This is a fast paced game. The art style is pretty decent and the game play looks to be quite fun, despite the little information given with the gameplay footage. ESL is set to release sometime in 2023.
Diablo 4
To start, Activision announced a new class for Diablo 4, Necromancer. Necromancer’s are shunned from the people. In Diablo, the Demon Lilith has returned. The game is an open world, Action RPG. It is Gorey, creepy, and unnerving. With 158 dungeons, cross-play capabilities, they have also made an Extensive Character creation with specific PVP zones. This game is set to release in 2023
Sea of Thieves
Xbox announced season seven of Sea of Thieves which comes free to players. The new Season drops July 21, 2022.
Ravenlok
You are a girl who moves to a new home. She goes into the barn and touches a mirror. This gets her sucked in. Now you can explore the world of wonderland, fight some of the resident monsters. It has fast combat, and has a story of a hero saving a troubled kingdom.
Cocoon
This is a Puzzle game with a cute art style. The game plays with the idea of worlds within worlds. Using the worlds you manipulate and rearrange them to solve intricate puzzles. Cocoon is set to release in 2023.
Wo Long
This is a dark fantasy, Three Kingdoms game. The Demons have plagued the three kingdoms. Wo Long refers to crouching dragon and also refers to a hero or person of greatness who is not yet known. Boost morale by defeating deadly enemies.
Persona 3, 4, 5
Xbox announced that all three of these Persona games are coming to Xbox. They are starting with Persona 5 being dropped October 21 2022. Then Persona 4 at some point after, followed by Persona 3.
Xbox Team up Surprise
Xbox game studios is teaming up with Hideo Kojima to create a never before seen or heard game. Hideo did not give any information regarding what the game entails.
Starfield
Bethesda’s long awaited game is an RPG exploration space game. It appears to have many of the same features from No Man’s Sky, scanning animals or plants. You find resources, using a beam gun to break down and collect. Character model is very similar as well.
There are hostile NPC’s and various guns to fight with. The graphics are pretty amazing. They have added an extensive character creation and starting skills based on the background you chose from. Skill trees enhance the RPG experience. You can build resource bases and hire NPC’s to run these bases.
You can build your own ship, choose the crew members you want, and completely customize the build. The Ship that you can fly, can also have the stats changed. The game provides space fights for those action lovers. The game is set to release in 2023.
