Resistance fall of man was a launch title for ps3 and was one of the first games me and my brother played co-operatively on the ps3. It was a game with endless potential. A game That produced two sequels. A game that seemingly fell off the ends of the earth.
So why does it deserve to make a comeback? Well, insomniac games cleverly delivered a plot that involves aliens and an alternate timeline where the Nazis, the axis, and world war two didn’t happen and this deserves some credit for being captivating and unique. Setting apart from other shooters that were out at the time of release. Even now in the market, there is room for a game of this caliber. Read on as I explain why.
Plot

The main antagonist of the series is an alien species named the chimera. The chimerans’ main aim is to infect the human race and evolve them into chimeras. They do this by taking over towns and cities and spraying gas.
The game takes place in 1949 after Europe has fallen due to the chimera. America has decided to stay out of the conflict but sends a task force to Assist the UK and this is where our main protagonist is introduced. SGT Nathan Hale.
If SGT hale were to be just the average foot soldier in this war then it would leave your run-of-the-mill shooter protag. However, with ingenuity and uniqueness insomniac games created a protagonist who was immune to the chimeran virus and instead has the attributes of an infected chimeran such as the same eyes and super strength.
One thing I enjoyed about this back in 2006 was the fact it was a virus from aliens and not man made or In the form of zombies. It stood out for me and before long I was captivated by sergeant Hales story and eager to have it unfold. Seeing this in the glory of todays graphics would be a major plus for an already stunning game.

Weapons
I fell in love with the various alien weapons in the game. Although it was one weapon that stood out for me the most. The infamous hedgehog Grenades.
The hedgehog grenades were part of the chimerans arsenal and could be picked up after you defeated them in combat. The hedgehog Grenade lifted in the air to head height of your opponent and fires dozens of splinters that detonate. It can be An outright kill if timed correctly!

Secondly, the bullseye is a great versatile gun that you acquire in the first mission. The bullseye is a chimeran gun that has a good rate of fire, minimum recoil, and good magazine size. Additionally, it allows you to tag enemies on the battlefield.

Below I’ve included some footage of some of the weapons you encounter in the first twenty minutes of the game. The bullseye is featured in this with a small excerpt that describes it. In the event of a remaster or port, the weapons would still be a good feature and responsible for what can be described as hours of fluid and enriching combat.
Co-Operative Campaign
Resistance fall of man sports a two-player campaign. My experience was from couch co-op split screen whilst playing. I enjoyed going through the story with a partner especially in some of the darker areas. The hordes of enemies that are featured make having that player two, a helpful addition.
If this game does get the port or remaster treatment then it should remain with its cooperative campaign
Alien models
I’m going to talk about two terrifying alien variants in the series. As there are round about twenty different variants and I would like to leave an element of surprise for those who are going to be playing the game. The two Variants I will discuss are The grim and the grey jack.
The grey jack sports an elongated shape with terrifying bug eyes and splinter skin shapes coming out of their back. I was a bit crestfallen to learn that the grey jacks are just elderly chimerans who have grown disjointed with age. It made my intense fear of them in the game so irrational. However, they usually burst out from pods and charged towards you, so it left me shaken for minutes afterward. They are exclusive to the first instalment of the game.

Secondly, the grim variant of chimeras posed a more humanoid form with what can only be described as several bug eyes that glow gold. Grims are dangerous in groups and are extremely fast-paced. It is not advised to hunker down and take the horde of grims on.
In addition to this grims have a terrifying origin route. Grims are converted humans who were inflicted by the chimera infection and reborn as grims. They are mostly found in the city locations in-game.

It would be interesting to see a sequel with new Chimera variants. However, if the game was to be ported or remastered the exciting alien variants featured in the game would still withhold for a terrifying and unique experience.
Try it out
The only way to play the first installment of this game series is through ps3, an emulator on PC or by jumping into resistance fall of man 3 on Playstation Now. In my personal opinion I would recommend this game to anyone who is interested in the Sci-Fi, horror, First person shooter genres.
Fans of the series can do nothing. Whilst sat waiting and hoping for a sequel or a port/remaster. I know I will be personally sitting waiting! Let me know your thoughts and opinions on this gem of a series. Watch the trailer below to find out more.
