Who you gonna call? Ghost Exorcists!

Overview

Who do you call when you have a spirit that needs to be dealt with? Ghost Exorcism Inc. of course! You and up to 5 other friends can join together at locations to discover what kind of ghost is present, and the steps in it’s exorcism to destroy it for good! Sounds easy enough, but the entire time you are finding evidence and performing the ritual, the spirit is trying to kill you. Naturally it doesn’t want to leave. The game has equal parts investigation and exorcism. Neither outweighs the other.

Training

Before hopping into the contracts, I highly recommend doing the training segment. Currently the interactive training is only in the testing beta, but is accessible to anyone with the game. If you are not in the testing beta, the interactive training is not in full game. It takes about ten minutes for the learning phase, and maybe another five to ten for the test. The learning is broken up into three segments. defend yourself, investigate and exorcise.

Defend Yourself

Some of the defensive arts against the spirits, can also be part the exorcism process. For example there is a shotgun and neutrino gun. the shotgun uses salt and tiger’s eye as the ammo. While this could potentially save you from the spirit, the exorcism list could state to salt/tiger the spirit as well. Maybe even to neutrino zap the spirit or an item.

There’s also crucifix which has a limited use and the statue of Mary. The camera is another good defensive technique, but the camera also has other uses. The camera also has limited uses. The last form of defense is using door barriers.

Investigate

The key to exorcisms in The Ghost Exorcism Inc. is having the proper evidence. To do so you need to verify the type of ghost it is, and then gather various evidence with an EMF, discover any orbs. There’s a notebook the ghost can write or draw in, a spirit box and temperature. The temperature is tricky because you want to aim AROUND the ghost, not on it. There’s also a cursed object that needs to be collected and sometimes a totem. Video cameras can be your best friend during this phase.

The tablet can be used to gather all the evidence, defining the type of spirit you are dealing with as well as whatever evidence was collected.

Exorcism

Once all the evidence has been gathered, you can proceed to the exorcism steps. The steps are distinctive for that particular spirit’s evidence and type. The different forms of Exorcism can be quick or elaborate. You can wave the incense on the ghost or in it’s Dread Origin location. The tiger’s eye and salt just gets thrown on the spirit to repel it. Sometimes there’s a pentagram on the map and sometimes it needs to be destroyed. Same with a totem if found. Lastly, There’s a “Bible” in which you read from to exorcise the Ghost. (There are settings in which to alter the text or phrasing of the book to your liking.)

Final Exam

the last part of the interactive tutorial is the Final Exam. This gives you a non-violent spirit to discover the type, gather evidence and exorcise it. This is where you put your training to test. If you complete the final exam, you get a nice prize for completing it. If you perfect the ginal exam, you get an even better reward for future contracts.

Contracts

Contracts have some presets, but you can also customize your contract. The price for each contract is based on difficulty, and has nothing to do with location. Locations, however are locked behind your levels. There are also items locked behind levels but they are still working on that

There’s also different forms of contracts. You can go and find the type of spirit and exorcise it like normal. you can also do a rescue mission. you still have to discover and investigate the ghost, and exorcise it. However there’s an added quest of rescuing the previous team and any items needed are scattered around the map. you have to go and find them.

In addition to Normal mode, there’s hard mode and then Exorcist. Hard mode is a harder version,(and more ghosts if added) to normal investigate and exorcise mode. Exorcist, is just a mode where the ghost type is already discovered, as well as evidence and you just go in and exorcise it.(This mode is locked behind a level 20 lock)

Final Thoughts

I loved exploring and some of the maps are well placed and made. The main map, my friends and I played on was the original house, before the name change of the game(formerly known as Ghost Hunter’s Corp) and the graveyard. We had a lot of fun and even tried out the Rescue mission. it was certainly harder and we had a more violent spirit too. I recommend picking this game up, Especially if you like Phasmophobia.
