Indie games have really skyrocketed in popularity in the last couple of years and so have a couple of popular relaxing games. A combination of relaxation infused with exhilarating soundtracks and unique graphics is perfect for those winter nights. So let’s grab a warm drink or whatever you fancy and dive into a world of comfort. Join us as we count down VIBES’ top 5 relaxing indie games.
5. Coffee Talk
Coffee Talk is a visual novel with limited gameplay such as the player designing art for coffee. However, it has a unique world full of mythical creatures and interesting interactions. The vibe that coffee talk creates is one that those who seek comfort when it rains will flourish in. The story is incredibly interesting with a plethora of characters who are sure to leave an impact. As a result, the short gameplay time of around four hours is justified. Snuggling up in the winter months with a hot beverage of your choice is the recommended way to play this game! Spiritfarer is a game that lingers in players’ minds months after completion. Join a quirky and pleasant character as she navigates a boat in the afterlife with her companion an adorable cat. Her main goal? to help souls cross over. Each soul has a unique, emotional, and exhilarating story behind its death. Cook, craft, and collect resources in order to progress the story. The newest edition of the game is the farewell edition which has added new characters since launch. Check out the launch trailer and form your own opinions before checking out this relaxing game.
3. Slime Rancher
Slime Rancher is an enjoyable adventure game with elements of a farming sim incorporated. Explore an unknown planet and collect several resources to feed and grow your farm of slimes. The variation of slimes will have you striving to gain more. Be careful though! There are some slimes that are dangerous and difficult to rustle up! As a result of this, players must ensure their farm is in tip-top condition. The story behind Slime Rancher is surprisingly in-depth and features character development and information about the world that continues to intrigue players. Check out the trailer below.
Unpacking is a very short puzzle game. However, the music, the art style, and the story behind the scenes are enough to draw players in. Unpacking follows the main character’s life as she moves from house to house and with each new location she must pack and organize her belongings. It’s interesting to see how her interests and hobbies and personal items develop over the years. Players will have short bursts of fun and puzzlement with this indie gem. Stardew Valley has now been around for 6 years now and has always held a special place in players’ hearts. Stardew Valley is one of the most popular indie farming games in the market. With constant updates from its hailed creator Concerned Ape it’s easy to see why it is popular. Join a customized character as you leave corporate city life for an idyllic farmland existence. Farm, form friendships and relationships and expand and grow your living quarters. There are limited stressful interactions in Stardew Valley and the world and characters are so diverse and brimming with life.
