Happy New Year! Dead By Daylight devs have released some ‘Patch Update’ information as well as future patch plans. We’ve got some ups and downs to talk about so let’s cover some of the quick patch information for the future.
For those of us using Steam to play, patch times should decrease by about 50% with the future plans. Dead By Daylight will be compressing their files in order to make the download/update times shorter and more well-rounded. After this chapter, they will be releasing an update that will restructure all chunks of data in order to make patch times faster.
Worst case for both scenarios, you’ll have to redownload the entirety of the game; but afterward, updates will be much smaller and faster for all platforms.
Current Updates
With all the talk of what comes in the future, let’s talk about what is happening now. Dead By Daylight has revealed that instead of their old Beta Blockers, they will be offering a Beta Tab to all players. This means any experimental features they want to try out will be available to ALL players. This is different from the Player Test Build, as the ‘Beta Tab’ will be offered to console and PC players alike.
In this case, the first ‘Beta’ is the new ‘Wiggle Update’ that has made its way into the game. Lots of players were complaining of broken keys, overworked joysticks, and missed mashed buttons due to lag. The new update allows for a skill check to pop up while being carried. Now some players’ disdain will be deep for this new addition, but for others, it will be a saving grace. When the character is picked up, a skill check will activate that will not disappear. Instead, it has two zones that you will constantly tap for until you are either hooked or freed. This can be accessed by the Betas tab and allows you to opt in or out as you please.
Leatherface
If you don’t know about the bonus masks with Leatherface, then read on. As many of you know, Leatherface had bonus Masks, the skins of the main survivors for Dead By Daylight. Well thanks to some abusive hunters and people reporting harassment with the masks, these will now be disabled. As soon as Mid-Chapter these masks will be removed, any players who played The Cannibal will get 6,000 iridescent shards for compensation.
Dead by Daylight does not tolerate hateful activity and will continue to take every step necessary to protect the community.
Grade Rewards
Ranks became grades a few months back, and now they are becoming more accessible and fair. Dead By Daylight Developers have been tracking grade resets as well as how many matches it takes to get there. DBD says the current rewards aren’t fitting and they will bump them up to be higher and more fitting to your game experience.
Add-Ons & Patches
DBD has seen plenty of positive reviews as they tweak characters, buttons, in-game movements, and more. With this, their list of Perk updates and Character fixes is long.

Lunar Event
The Lunar Event is back and is up and running! Lurking Stripes offers the good ol’ Lunar Offerings as well as bonus blood points for those offerings. You’ll see new cosmetics like toolboxes, health kits, all glammed out in the Lunar Year colors. Hunters have all-new looks with bright reds and yellows.
