As a Souls fan, I have been dying to get more information on the new game Thymesia that was announced just last year in November. Little information had been given other than getting to view some epic gameplay here and there. However, we finally have recieved an announcement for a release date, which is expected to be August 9th of this year! PC fans can also now enjoy a free demo that launched today on Steam.
What is Thymesia?
Thymesia is a new action RPG developed by Overborder Studio and published by Team 17. The game seems to follow in From Softwares gameplay, but with a little more of a twist in combat. It’s fast action gameplay reminds me of Bloodborne and Nioh, and it seems to keep the brutality that Souls fans know and love.
The story is set in a post apocalyptic Kingdom where the use of Alchemy has brought the world to ruin. Essentially, the plague has ravaged the lands as well as other horrifying diseases, and the use of Alchemy helped to create soldiers that became immune to diseases. It all backfired and the soldiers ended up mutating into terrifying creatures that brought chaos to the entire Kingdom. Players will play as Corvus, a man with no memories who attempts to uncover the truth.
The Plague is My Friend
From the information given, it looks like our weapons will be known as “plague weapons” and that we can steal diseases from our enemies and utilize them in combat. We can also turn into a raven form that seems to act as an ultimate form where abilities are enhanced. The combat system definitley looks fun with a pretty unique concept.
Coming to All Platforms….Almost
Every platform aside from Switch will be able to play this game, and only current generation. It seems that it was only announced for Playstation 5 and the Series X and S, as well as PC. Only PC players can get their hands on the demo if they have steam. Hopefully last generation players can play since the scalpers have killed off the ability to obtain a new system, but we will have to wait and see.
