Ghost Hunting is not for the weak hearted
Phasmophobia. If you’ve heard of this game, then the early release games must be up your alley. That or you are a horror-obsessed jump scare fan like the rest of us. Either way, Phasmophobia is a jewel in the ruff of early release games.
Unlike most early release games, Phasmophobia seems almost complete. A few tweaks here and there, and maybe some new add ons, but overall the game holds up very well with the demand. Developers work closely with Discord users, taking feedback very seriously.
As ViBE took a closer look into Phasmophobia, there was so much to this game that allows the love for this game, to shine through. The jump scare factor is very real in this game, and again, is not for the weak-hearted.
Jump Scares to Scream Your Head Off To
We all know a little scare can get the blood pumping, and a jump scare or two always makes sure the heart is running healthily. If you are a horror fanatic like myself, this game will catch you completely off guard. For myself, jump-scares have always been a lazy way to make something scary. Well, Phasmophobia takes those jump-scares and turns them into story additives.
Normal horror would have you walk into a room, just to have a foggy shape or ghost appear in front of you screaming or making a bunch of noise. Phasmophobia is a little different in this sense, instead of the gaudy jump-scares, no one needs, they made it psychologically thrilling to be hunting for a ghost.
For those of you familiar with the Ghost Hunting T.V Shows, groups, and more, Phasmophobia lets you take the driver seat in these hunts. You’ll use real-life equipment, such as; EMF Detector, Spirit Box and camera’s all in an effort to track down and document the ghost.
So let’s get into the game, when you start Phasmophobia you’ll be greeted with your basic home menu, offering single or multiplayer. Make your choice and you’ll have a selection of locations to choose from, and more will unlock as you explore and level up. The starter home is a perfect place to really get the feel for the different difficulties as well as how to hunt.
Now, don’t be discouraged quite yet as a new player you will come into the game with no equipment and very little money if any. Phasmophobia is nice enough to at least give you some starter equipment to use.
Once you’ve gathered your wills and your equipment, check the whiteboard to see any hints or objectives.
Completing any of these objectives will earn you extra cash, but some will only show finished after you’ve left the investigation. The whiteboard will also tell you about any hints or clues that the team has found. Things like, if it’s a violent being or if the spirit can respond to a group.
Updates, Bug Fixes and Patches
All of these will help guide you to finding the truth behind the haunting. As the game gains more traction and becomes more popular, more things are being updated and changed every day.
Thanks to the fantastic team of Devs and workers for Phasmophobia, the lines of communication are strong between gamers and support.
Keep an eye on their steam page, as updates come in.
HarleChan and ViBE Review: 8.5/10
The game is still in early access and maybe forever. The limited content is quick to run through, but is still highly enjoyable and replayable, especially with friends.
