A New Season is Upon Us!!
Hello Operator, welcome to a new update in the Rainbow Six’s 7th year of content. The latest update has a slew of changes and a brand new operator with his unique game-changing ability. So let’s get into it.
BEES!! NOT THE BEES!!
This season of Rainbow Six Siege is titled “Brutal Swarm,” and with it comes the operator from the organization called “NIGHTHAVEN,” and his name is “Grim.” Grim is an operator from Singapore as part of the Naval Explosive Ordnance Removal team and attracted the attention of another Nighthaven member codename, “Kali,” with his use of stealth and information gathering. Grim brings along his “Kawan Hive Launcher,” which shoots information-gathering bees…yes, you read right, bees. When a player enters his swarm, it notifies the attacking team of a real-time location of a defender for about ten seconds. The hive runs out of batteries, and the defender is gone from the players’ HUD again. His launcher isn’t without counters; Mute can not only stop the swarm from even activating, but if you get caught in it, you can run over to one of Mute’s jammers, and they will instantly deactivate; Kaid and Bandit can also zap the canisters before activation if Grim shoots it on any electrified walls or barbed wire. Jäger, Wamai, and Aruni can also destroy Grim’s swarm canisters before activation, just like any grenade thrown close to their equipment. Finally, Vigil will not ping the HUD if his gadget is on while running through the swarm. Grim brings a few familiar guns into the fray with the 552 Commando assault rifle, the SG-CQB shotgun, and the P229 handgun. He gets two more gadgets besides the Kawan Launcher, a breaching charge, and a claymore like most attackers nowadays.
New Gadgets Inbound!!
With “Brutal Swarm” comes a new gadget for attackers to help with assaulting the building. They have been given a new EMP Impact Grenade, much like Thatcher’s unique EMP Grenade; this grenade will disrupt electronics in an area where it is thrown, although it has a much smaller radius than Thatcher’s special ability. This grenade is available for Blackbeard, Montagne, Dokkaebi, Nokk, Gridlock, Sledge, Lion, and Osa.
Now let’s talk about recoil, most people who play Rainbow Six Siege will say some guns kick like a bull when they fire for a short amount of time, and that’s true still; LMGs (Light Machine Guns) are on the chopping block for recoil this time around with having a fourth stage recoil pattern that makes it slightly harder to control if you are sustaining fire. Assault rifles also got a bit of a tweak to their recoil patterns, for example, Finkas’ Spear 308. now kicks like a bull when it used to be pretty simple to control.
Operator Change Up!!
Also, with the new season comes a few changes to your favorite operators like:
- Buck and Capito get the Gonne-6 barricade breacher
- Finka now has Smoke Grenades and no more Frag Grenades
- Fuze has a shorter drill time for his ability and now has Smoke Grenades
- Glaz got a Claymore
- Iana doesn’t have the Gonne-6 anymore
- Kali’s rifle was tweaked to reduce vertical and horizontal recoil and a smoother sight movement, as well as add a charge to her ability
- Maverick also lost Frag Grenades but was given Flashbangs
- Thatcher just got some new EMP Effects to look different from the EMP Grenades regular operators have
Here’s to a new Season!!
