Ready, Set, Go!
Music racer presents itself as a musical arcade game. The player must traverse and dodge obstacles to the rhythm of the chosen soundtrack. The player starts by customising their care given in the first few moments of the gameplay. Players can choose from a collection of cars and colours. There are some cars that require points for the completion of levels but this gives the player something to work towards. Several iconic cars can be purchased such as the Motorcycle from Tron, the Delorean from Back to the Future and Knight Riders car Kit.
Terrific Locations
The game provides several race tracks such as Kyoto, Retro and Vega. Each location is as vibrant and colourful as the next. Dive into a neon colourful world and let the music wash over you as you experience a racing arcade game that brings a fresh perspective.
Choose Your Own Music
Music Racer is aptly named due to its ability to allow players to have their own music by uploading a file to their WebDav server. This can be done from a smartphone or computer. Music Racer had previously been released but it wasn’t until the ultimate version had this feature was released. The player can go through a process of choosing tracks that have already gone through the process of publishing already by other players on the Audius service.
Challenges
The game poses minimal challenges. However, there are difficulties that the player can tweak if they are finding the game too easy. This element combined with collecting the currency to purchase new cars or tracks allows for something to work towards for the player. Although, the game can be incredibly short if you’re working towards achievements or trophies. As a result of this, the game creates a less competitive atmosphere and more of a playing to enjoy.
The gameplay mechanics are increasingly simple and focus on just switching from lane to lane to collect currency. There is also a cinematic mode that allows for the player to just sit back and enjoy the music as the car sails through the track. Challenging obstacles and an array of different lanes would help pique additional interest in the game.
