Goodbye Overwatch
Overwatch closes it’s servers down October 3rd, for over 24 hours in the hopes of Overwatch 2 to get up and running smoothly. As the Game crawled to an end, many reminisced, some posted videos of the final moments and some shared personal stories of how they got into Overwatch.
As a player myself, many of the last few matches consisted of players relaxing and chilling. No one really wanted to fight, choosing to emote, dance on or off the point. Many choosing to end on a draw, rather than win.
Along with the game’s final moments, Blizzard even sent out some heartfelt messages.
Some Fans were pointing to an old post that was six years old, suggesting a fox support hero for “weeb” players, and Overwatch has definitely delivered the “weeb” fox support player!

Some Players even made their own memes for the closing of the servers, and the game.
One player even went outside to “Touch grass”. Then asked for servers to be turned back on.

Another shared his introduction to Overwatch, just wanting to be a little closer to his daughter.

Mostly, People shared their final moments, and made clips to the end of the game, along with some memories.
Hello 2.0
After the closing of Overwatch servers, October 4th came, and it was a disaster for players and blizzard alike. Players were hit with long queues, servers not connecting and those who purchased the watchpoint, or had accounts on multiple platforms, not showing the purchase or the merge. Many players were seeing frustration, and no games.
It wasn’t until about 4:30pm EST when Blizzard announced that they were hit with a DDOS attack. This attack is still being worked out, along with server issues at the time of this article. Blizzard has since made 1 server work and if anyone logs on, you are in a queue for that one server. Because of the one server, now when players log on they see the queue number, and it steadily goes down. Prior players would get 0 in queue, then shoot up to 20k, and sometimes after that shoot even higher into the queue.
A few who reached the front of the queue, were only met with a connection error and either booted from the game, or sent back into the queue.
If you were lucky to get in, you were met by an image of the new, Customizable Mythic Genji skin. Once you hit Play, you will notice that both deathmatch and Mystery heros are no longer under arcade, but rather under unranked. The Challenges are plenty to complete ranging from daily, to weekly, seasonal to even hero specific. Hero challenges are currently not shown.
The game has also received a lot of new changes graphically, new Icons of Heroes, new kits for some and voice lines. The voice lines seem to be of a higher pitch than Overwatch 1, a few commenting that it was irritating to hear.
Many online stating that this is the worst Overwatch update ever, even calling it a downgrade.
Blizzard announced the SMS Protect; would not apply to those who have connected Battlenet accounts from Overwatch 1. Accounts not connected, or created after launch of 2, would need to implement SMS Protect. They also address a lot of issues from Day 1.

Overwatch has seen a lot these past few days, hopefully Blizzard can get it together with a working, functional game in the next few days.
Mom of three, enjoy videogames, board games and phone games. I typically am playing Simulation games or FPS games.
