All fans know how massive this game is, but many are afraid of missing potential challenges in each area. Many fans of Souls-like games are used to a more linear structure, and due to the sheer size of this new open world game, content can be easily missed. Many players are also new to the franchise and have jumped aboard to attempt Elden Ring and may struggle with some of these bosses. This is our very own guide to each location and strategy for all of the bosses in Limgrave.
Tutorial Boss

Soldier of Godrick
Health: 10,464
Drops: 400 Runes
Weakness: Anything will work
Immunity: None
This boss is the first optional boss of the game and is the only boss in the tutorial. He is extremely easy for veteran Souls players; however, it is recommended for new players with no experience in the Souls franchise. Players will learn the movement and combat for the overall game when it comes to dodging, blocking, and attacking.
The location for this boss is in the Stranded Graveyard, an optional location right when you awaken at the beginning of the game after being beaten by the Scion. Look for a ghost near a gaping hole in the ground that will tell you to “take the plunge.” You will see an area to jump down into on your right. He will be in the last room after you proceed through the cave and dispatch some easy enemies.
There is no real strategy since the point of this boss and area is purely tutorial. However, he will hit hard, so patience is key for inexperienced players. Block when needed, or dodge, and then get a few hits in. Rinse and repeat, and he will drop fast.
Mini Dungeon Bosses
Mini Dungeons consist of caves, buildings like castles and studies, mines, and catacombs. These can consist of short runs or long, puzzle filled adventures. They are always worth it due to the drops, chests, and harvestable materials.
Demi Human Chief

Health: N/A
Drops: 900 Runes, Tailoring Tools, Sewing Needle
Weakness: Slash, Elemental Effects
Immunity: Bleed, Frostbite
Location: Coastal Cave
The Demi Human Chief can be annoying, especially due to the fact that there are two of them for this boss fight. Patience is key if you are attempting to do the fight solo; otherwise, it is recommended to have ashes on hand or summon help.
For ranged users, the battle can be a lot easier due to the fact that you can kite them or use any magical attacks to blast your way to victory. Having summons can serve as distractions so you can attack them from a distance safely with little aggro.
Melee users will have to put in a bit more work, especially since the bosses can throw poison knives and use aggressive attacks like their spin and leap attack. Luckily, there are openings between overhead attacks where you can punish them during recovery. These two stagger easily, so get a few strikes in and then wait for stamina recovery on the defensive. Always keep both in your view if you decide to solo the boss to prevent any back attacks.
Burial Tree Watchdog

Health: 1,185
Drops: 1,300 Runes, Noble Sorcerer Ashes
Weakness: Strike
Immunity: All Elemental Damage, All Status Effects, Thrust, Standard, Slash
Location: Stormfoot Catacombs
Burial Tree Watchdog can be a pain if you have no timing. Its strikes come down in an instant with little to no warning, and he can also breathe fire that can end deadly. Patience and practice will go a long way since there are numerous catacombs with Watchdogs to encounter.
Melee users will need to study their movements and attacks to be successful. The Watchdog will leap up into the air and slam down around four times in a row, which you can dog into to avoid or slowly move back from. Keep your shield up if you are not certain that you are out of range. When he breathes fire, keep behind him and attack as he circles around. You can also bait forward strikes or his horizontal strikes if you are close enough and should punish accordingly.
Ranged users will have a way easier time as long as they keep their distance and do not get too greedy. Beast Claw and Glintstone Stars are the best to use for this fight in terms of spells. Keeping range will trigger their jump attack more often, so be mindful of your location and move away or dodge as needed.
Beastman of Farum Azula

Health: 1,960
Drops: 1,000 Runes, Flamedrake Talisman
Weakness: Slash, Fire
Immunity: Lightning
Location: Groveside Cave
Beastman hits hard and kills stamina, so this fight is better with dodging and no shield usage. He utilizes long and aggressive combos, so if he shield-breaks, you will most likely die.
Melee users will need to bait his long combos and keep just enough distance to avoid his attacks. Once he is in recovery, hit a couple of times and back away again. Rinse and repeat until you kill him. The same strategy can be used for ranged fighters, but you do not need to bait the attacks; you can just keep your distance. Magic users should use fire if possible to nuke him faster.
Stonedigger Troll

Health: 2,200
Drops: 1,800 Runes, Roar Medallion
Weakness: Slash
Immunity: Frostbite
Location: Limegrave Tunnels
This boss can be incredibly annoying for melee users, mostly due to the fact that physical attacks bounce off of him. Ashes are highly recommended like the Northern Mercenary Ashes or Jellyfish; otherwise, you will need to hit him with your hardest attacks during an opening. Magic users will have an easier time since magic can fully damage him. Be mindful of his large-scale AOE attacks and charges, and keep a shield in hand at all times if possible.
Grave Warden Duelist

Health: 2,376
Drops: 1,700 Runes, Battle Hammer
Weakness: Slash, Bleed
Immunity: Frostbite, Poison, Scarlet Rot
Location: Murkwater Catacombs
The Duelist can eat away your stamina if you try to block, so dodging is advised. He also utilizes a large AOE attack with his, which is best to keep as far away as possible from. Using summons like the Northern Mercenary Ashes can come on handy, especially for melee users. It is best for close combat fighters to use these ashes as a distraction and wail on him until he breaks out his AOE. Bleed weapons will go a long way to take his down fast if you can get off the procs.
Magic users will have a way easier time, mostly due to the fact they can kite him around the room. Distance is already utilized, so the sweeping AOE is generally not an issue.
Patches

Health: 2,200
Drops: x2 Gold Rune, Grovel for Mercy
Weakness: None
Immunity: None
Location: Murkwater Cave
Patches is an easy fight, especially since you only need to get his health down to fifty percent. There is no need for a strategy; just beat on him until he surrenders. If you leave him alive, it provides more future content and his store.
Guardian Golem

Health: N/A
Drops: 1,700 Runes, Blue Dancer Charm
Weakness: Physical
Immunity: Fire, Lightning, Holy
Location: Highroad Cave
This Golem is not a particularly hard fight, but if you do get hit, it can be lethal depending on your Vitality. The best method is to keep attacking its legs and stay under him. Using magic can deal a lot of damage, so keep it handy. If you manage to stagger it to one foot, this provides an opportunity for a critical attack. The fight should not last too long, so keep cautious and go for the legs.
Black Knife Assassin

Health: 2,750
Drops: 1,600 Runes, Assassin’s Crimson Dagger
Weakness: Physical, Frostbite
Immunity: Holy, Bleed, Scarlet Rot, Poison
Location: Death Touched Catacombs
The Black Knife Assassins are bosses in the game that can either be really easy or really annoying if they are invisible ones. Luckily, our friend Assassin does not turn invisible and can be staggered easily. Dex and strength fighters need only to hit her fast since she has no poise at all. Lone Wolf Ashes also serves as an easy distraction. Magic users need to keep her at a save distance and try to use spirit ashes to keep aggro.
Evergaols
Evergaols are prison arenas that are through the Lands Between. You can fight bosses there that usually provide a good challenge with decent rewards.
Bloodhound Knight Darriwil

Health: 1,480
Drops: 1,900 Runes, Bloodhound’s Fang
Weakness: Thrust, Lightning
Immunity: Bleed, Poison, Scarlet Rot, Frostbite
Location: Forlon Hound Evergaol
This can be a difficult fight, especially for non magic users. Darriwil causes bleed damage and hits fast and hard. Fire damage and lightning will help the fight go a lot smoother if physical users have a weapon they can apply it to. Ashes of War like Glintblade and Flame of the Redmanes will also do a lot of damage. Otherwise, dodging is the best method if you can not utilize a great shield.
Melee fighters should keep aware of certain attacks to dodge and punish them accordingly. He is very aggressive and can cause bleed if you block his attacks instead of dodging. It is best to get in a hit or two during his recovery time from certain attacks and avoid getting greedy. Great shield users can block to bounce back his attacks and punish them.
Magic users need to be careful of what spells are chosen due to the fact that Darriwil moves fast and will dodge magic easily. Fast-paced and close quarters magic like Carian Piercer. The Ash of War Glintstone Phalanx is a great alternative because it will stagger him.
Crucible Knight

Health: 2,750
Drops: 2,100 Runes, Aspects of the Crucible: Tail
Weakness: Thrust, Slash, Standard, Strike
Immunity: All elemental and status effects, Bleed
Location: Stormhill Evergaol
The Crucible Knight is a very difficult fight, depending on your level, vitality, and patience. He is extremely aggressive and filled with a lot of combos that can straight up kill you if you do not dodge correctly and keep blocked. He has an AOE ground stomp that will immediately shield-break you with an instant sword slash as a follow-up. In addition, there are no summons allowed in Evergaols, meaning no Spirit Ashes or friends allowed.
Melee users will have a difficult time if they have low damage weapons and low endurance. During the fight, you will need to constantly be on the defensive and study his moves to time dodging well. His phase one ground stomp and phase two charge are lethal. It is best to study the attacks and bring a high damage weapon. Wait to attack during small openings and only hit once or twice. Greed will be punished, for these knights should not be taken lightly.
Magic users will have an easier time as long as they dodge his attacks properly. You can kite these knights in circles with spells like fireballs and bolts. They will not do much damage, but these attacks do chip away at his health bar. Favor FP over HP flasks and bring items like Cuckoo Glinstones.
NPC Invaders
These are invaders that are NPCs, and usually will be in areas such as ruins and temples. Some of them can prove to be very challenging and others easy as pie.
Bloody Finger Nerijus

Health: N/A (NPC Invader)
Drops: 316 Runes, Furcalling Finger Remedy, Reduvia
Weakness: N/A
Immunity: N/A
Location: Northeast of Agheel Lake by Murkwater Catacombs
Nerijus will utilize two daggers to inflict bleed fast; however, you will get an automatic summon to aid you. This is Bloody Finger Hunter Yura, and he can keep aggro while you beat him.
Recusant Henricus

Health: N/A (NPC Invader)
Drops: Furlcalling Finger Remedy, Hammer Talisman
Weakness: N/A
Immunity: N/A
Location: East of Stormhill Shack
This invader wields a giant mace and full body armor. He is not terribly difficult, but he can be annoying if you get greedy.
Anastasia Tarnished-Eater

Health: N/A (NPC Invader)
Drops: Sacred Scorpion Charm, Furlcalling Finger Remedy, Butchering Knife
Weakness: N/A
Immunity: N/A
Location: Smoldering Church
Anastasia may seem intimidating at first, but she is actually very easy. She two-hands a Butchering Knife, and telegraphs all of her moves. Just wait for her to leap at you and punish her, or wait for her four-hit combo to end.
Old Knight Istvan

Health: N/A (NPC Volcano Manor)
Drops: 1,828 Runes, Rune Arc, Furlcalling Finger Remedy, Scaled Armor Set
Weakness: N/A
Immunity: N/A
Location: Boss Arena in Stormhill
This will be an assassination request from the quest line at Volcano Manor. You invade his world, and he can be easily brought down and drop some good loot. No major strategy needed, just wail on him and get your goods.
Area Bosses
These bosses are located in the Lands Between; however, they are out in the open. They can be found in ruins or as NPCs in certain areas.
Mad Pumpkin Head

Health: 10,500
Drops: 1,100 Runes
Weakness: Fire, Lightning, Bleed, Frostbite
Immunity: Strike
Location: Waypoint Ruins
Pumpkin Head isn’t really too hard, and the only annoying part of fighting him is that his head is a giant weapon that smashes down hard and cannot be damaged. The best method is to keep behind him and target his body. Magic users need to be especially careful to not target the head, and melee users need only to dodge through his combos and head smashes. Ashes can serve as a great distraction.
Night’s Calvary

Health: 2,200
Drops: 2,400 Runes, Ash of War: Repeating Thrust
Weakness: Thrust, Lightning
Immunity: Holy, Fire, Magic, Strike, Standard, Slash
Location: On the bridge near Agheel Lake North
Night’s Calvary can be a huge pain if you attack unmounted, but there are some strategies to use on foot. This boss is a knight mounted on a horse, and both of them have separate health bars. You can knock him off the horse, but he will summon it back instantly if you do not keep attacking him. This is why I prefer mounted combat for the fight, because you can consistently keep up with him and attack his sides, or kite him with magic. If you want to attack him on foot, melee players should wait for the knight to charge you, and then attack after dodging through him rolling forward. Magic users should try to keep distanced and use spells that will attack both him and the horse for good measure. Lightning Spear and Glinstone Arc are great spells to use.
Tree Sentinel

Health: 2,200
Drops: 3,200 Runes, Golden Halberd, Erdtree Greatshield, Hero’s Rune 1
Weakness: Lightning
Immunity: Slash, Bleed, Frostbite, Holy, Fire
Location: Limgrave Road
The Tree Sentinels are a huge pain, but if you use mounted combat and ranged attack, the fights go much smoother. Using Torrent allows you to kite and attack with a bow or magic and keep him at a safer distance, as well as run away from dangerous attacks.
If on foot, melee fighters should attack sparingly. Wait for the Sentinel to attack, and once he is finished sneak in a hit or two. Rinse and repeat this method until phase two, which is more or less the same but you need to keep your distance as he uses his AOE. This attack is huge, and will most likely one shot you.
For Magic users, keep a shield on hand if you only have close range spells. Otherwise, blast him with long range spells and dodge as needed. Mounted combat is strongly advised, as again Torrent makes everything ten times easier.
Flying Dragon Agheel

Health: 3,200
Drops: 5,000 Runes, Dragon Heart
Weakness: Slash, Thrust, Standard
Immunity: Strike, All Status Effects, All Elemental Damage
Location: Dragon Burnt Ruins
Mounted combat is the best and safest method for this fight, mostly due to the fact that nearly all dragons will fly away from you and gain distance fast. Then they will follow up with fire breathing of some sort that will most likely one shot you depending on vitality. It is recommended with mounted combat to wear heavy armor since weight does not matter on your horse and keep a higher amount of Crimson Tear flasks. Attack him, and as he flies away either rush after him, or if you have no time run to his sides at a wide arc.
If one insists on non-mounted combat, be warned that hitting his head deals the most damage. Since melee users will really struggle, they should bring a long reaching weapon such as the Winged Spear. You will need to bait him into attacks that will lower his head, like when he swings his wing into a swiping attack. He can be staggered, so keep that in mind and take advantage. Magic users will do more or less of the same, but have an easier time with the head. They should pack a lot of FP recovery, and again Torrent will make the fight way easier. .
Tibia Mariner

Health: 2,750
Drops: 2,400 Runes, Deathroot, Skeletal Militiaman Ashes
Weakness: Holy, Strike
Immunity: Thrust, Lightning, Poison, Frostbite, Scarlet Rot
Location: Summonwater Village
This is one of the easiest fights in the game. The Mariner will teleport around the ruins when you deal him a chunk of damage, but is slow to attack and will hit the undead around him. He will lift his boat and swing down, as well as summon a purple like fire that will one shot other enemies. The best method is to blast him with magic for magic users, or wail on his sides with weapons. Dodge as needed, and he will eventually drop.
Bell Bearing Hunter

Health: 1,960
Drops: 2,700 Runes, Bone Peddler’s Bell Bearing
Weakness: Pierce, Lightning
Immunity: Standard, Slash, Strike, Magic, Holy, Fire
Location: Warmaster’s Shack
Another not so tough boss, and one that will drop important loot. He only appears at night, so it is best to rest at the grace site and then enter the shack for him to spawn.
Deathbird

Health: 2,750
Drops: 3,900 Runes, Blue-Feathered Branchsword
Weakness: Strike, Holy, Scarlet Rot
Immunity: Thrust, Lightning, Bleed, Frostbite, Poison
Location: East of Warmaster’s Shack on a cliff
Deathbirds are reoccurring bosses that appear randomly and can mess up your day if you are not prepared. They wield deadly canes with giant bird heads and almost humanlike bodies. Mounted combat is again easier, but if you want to fight it melee it is best to watch the attack pattern and dodge. Hit sparingly as needed. Otherwise, ride Torrent and wail on him, or blast him with magic.
Ulcerated Tree Spirit (Hero’s Grave)

Health: 2,200
Drops: N/A
Weakness: Fire, Frostbite
Immunity: Bleed, Scarlet Rot, Poison, Holy
These Tree Spirits are honestly terrifying, and yes reoccurring. It is best to keep fire greases and holy defense if possible, with a shield on hand. Always keep an eye out for it’s roar, otherwise it will bite you into oblivion. Try to keep to its left side regardless of set up and wail on him until phase two. Dodge as needed, especially with its breath attacks and attack afterwards. Phase 2 will consist of a huge AOE with lightning, which you should respond to by running as far as possible since it acts like a wrath attack. Keep your shield up as needed, and again attack the left side.
Stormveil Castle
Stormveil Castle is required to complete; otherwise, you can not progress in the story. This area will contain the first major story boss in the game.
Ulcerated Tree Spirit (Castle)

Health: 2,200
Drops: Golden Seed
Weakness: Fire, Frostbite
Immunity: Bleed, Scarlet Rot, Poison, Holy
Location: Liftside Chamber, outside at the bottom of a gutter
These Tree Spirits are honestly terrifying, and yes reoccurring. It is best to keep fire greases and holy defense if possible, with a shield on hand. Always keep an eye out for it’s roar, otherwise it will bite you into oblivion. Try to keep to its left side regardless of set up and wail on him until phase two. Dodge as needed, especially with its breath attacks and attack afterwards. Phase 2 will consist of a huge AOE with lightning, which you should respond to by running as far as possible since it acts like a wrath attack. Keep your shield up as needed, and again attack the left side.
Crucible Knight

Health: 2,750
Drops: 2,500 Runes, Aspects of the Crucible: Horns
Weakness: Slash, Standard, Strike, Thrust
Immunity: Elemental Damage, Status Effects, Bleed
Location: Bottom floor of Rampart Tower Grace Site
These are some of the most annoying bosses in the game, however this particular fight is a lot easier thankfully. This Knight has slower attacks that are a little more easy to read. His AOE hits forwards so keep behind if possible, and his phase two will consist of that annoying flying attack where he sweeps down into you. Dodge to the side as needed and try to move behind again for a few more hits. Magic users will struggle a bit more due to lack of damage, so keep more FP flasks and FP recovery since it will take a while to kill him.
Grafted Scion

Health: N/A
Drops: 1,176 Runes
Weakness: None
Immunity: None
Melee users will have a more annoying time due to the massive shield and mobility of his attacks. The best method is to bait him into a jumping attack to get a few hits in. Try to dodge more when it comes to his whirlwind attacks so you are not staggered when using a shield. The fight will be a lot of give and take, since he will leave you with little opportunity to attack.
Magic users can kite him but have to hit during his down time to avoid being punished. If you attack during one of his chains, he will break the distance and punish you. Keep a shield at the ready, and use Glinstone spells.
Margit, The Fell Omen

Health: 4,174
Drops: 12,000 Runes
Weakness: Slash
Immunity: Holy, Elemental Damage
Margit is terrifying at first and very aggressive. He is constantly on the attack and will most likely shield break you into submission. This will make melee users work for the kill, and leave reason to summon help or use ashes as a distraction. The Lone Wolf Ashes in particular can actually help stagger for a visceral attack. If you plan on going in with less than 20 Vigor, you will need to dodge otherwise a hit can potentially kill you. Try to bait attacks and swing during the openings. Greed will kill you, so hit sparingly. Bleed will actually come in handy if you have the ability to utilize it with greases or weapons.
Magic users should also use the Wolf Ashes as a distraction, but will have an easier time if they can keep their distance. Beast Claw and Ginstone Stars will actually deal a good amount of damage.
Godrick the Grafted (Lord)

Health: 6,080
Drops: 20,000 Runes
Weakness: Physical
Immunity: Holy, Status Effects
Attacks:
- Wind AOE – Swings his axe full circle up to three times creating a wind gust
- Ranged Wind – Throws a wind gust at you with his axe
- Lunge – Leaps into the air and throws his axe down on you
- Axe Combo 1 – Godrick will wildly swing his axe at your a few times
- Firebreath – Godrick uses a dragon’s head to blow fire at you, spreading a long distance through half of the arena
- Ground Smash – Godrick slams his axe into, creating a ground burst three times in a row, and each one farhter away
Godrick is a very fun and rewarding fight, but also brutal. *Note you can summon Nepheli Loux* You can attack him and keep his response delayed to try and get in as much damage as possible. This fight will consist of two phases, the first being pure melee and the second him using a dragon head to deal fire damage.
Melee users should try to keep mid range and dive in for a few hits in-between his chain attacks. It is best to keep to the back side, and avoid his gust attack by dodging through it. When he hits second phase and tries to blow out fire, the range is ridiculous on it, so, it is best to rush in and get behind as he is using the ability. You can take advantage during this and wail on him.
Magic users should use Ashes if they have no friends to keep Godrick distracted. Lone Wolf Ashes is again a great summon for the fight. Constantly keep on the move to dodge and attack from behind, and use Glinstone Attacks. Be mindful of when you cast in case he changes targets and breaks the distance to attack you.
