Don’t know what class to play as? This guide should help you out!

Destiny 2 is a MMORPG Looter-Shooter developed by Bungie. You play as one of the many Guardians sent out to protect Earth from many evil alien races. Using your light abilities (as well as some darkness), you tackle any threat that comes your way. The game went Free to Play which makes it easier to jump in and play. With the newest expansion coming in just under a week, now is the best time to play and see what its like. There’s only one problem: which class should you play? In this article, I’ll go over each class in the game and give a brief overview.
There are 3 main classes in the game: Titan, Hunter, and Warlock. Each class has four different subclasses with different abilities and elements. We’ll start with the Titans.
Titan

No class in Destiny2 can stand their ground quite like a Titan. Known for there defensive abilities, Titans are classified as “Tanks”. Most of their abilities include setting up barricades to give you and your team some time to breathe, reload, and plan out the next move. When defense isn’t an option (or you like to get into the action as well), Titans are also known for being able to crush opponents with their fists, sometimes giving out a buff to last a bit longer in the fight. If you enjoy being “the wall” for your team, the Titan is for you.
Strengths: Very versatile, Unmatched in CQB, Excellent team players
Weaknesses: Identical abilities between classes, doesn’t synergize well with other Titans, not very good for solo play
Titan Abilities
Arc Subclass: Striker.
Turns your body into a weapon and disintegrate anything you touch.
Main Use: DPS
Solar Subclass: Sunbreaker.
Engulf the battlefield in flames by utilizing flaming hammers and sunspots.
Main Use: DPS/Support
Void Subclass: Sentinel
Become the wall that separates the enemy from your team, granting your team buffs in the process.
Main Use: Tank/Support
Stasis Subclass: Behemoth
Create and destroy Stasis crystals to freeze and shatter your foes.
Main Use: Crowd Control/Ad clear
Next we’ll move on to Hunters.
Hunters

Hunters are Destiny 2’s most played class. They are known for their agility, endless utility, and fashionable capes. Hunters are considered the “Lone Wolf” class as they don’t provide any team-wide healing or stat buffs. Most Hunter ability focus on aggression and utility. They have smoke bombs that turn you invisible and a throwing knife that either explodes on impact or acts like a trip mine. If you like to play solo then this is the class for you.
Strengths: Unmatched utility, agile, meant for the solo player
Weaknesses: No support buffs, hard to gear, most populated class
Hunter Abilities
Arc Subclass: Arcstrider
Using a pole made out of electricity, bash and smack your enemies to dust
Main Use: DPS
Solar Subclass: Gunslinger
Channel your inner cowboy and mow down your enemies with precision shots or throw flaming knives
Main Use: DPS
Void Subclass: Nightstalker
For the Hunter that’s a team player, shoot a volley of arrows to debuff your enemies for your team while you go invisible.
Main Use: Support
Stasis Subclass: Revenant
Become a Shinobi and throw shrunkens made of ice to freeze and slow your opponents as well as make an ice tornado to obliterate the opposition.
Main Use: Crowd Control/Ad clear
Last, but not least is the Warlock class.
Warlock

Despite the name, Warlocks don’t use strictly magic to vanquish their foes. In Destiny 2, they use guns too. Warlocks focus on improving the core gameplay and are a must in most endgame activities. Typically, used as the “healer”, they’re the only class that can gain health back by killing or float in the air for nearly a minute. If you want to focus on both aspects of light and dark, then Warlocks are for you. They can buff you, sling grenades out with the right gear, and be a threat in both PvE and PvP. If you like being a healer, then Warlock is the class for you.
Strengths: Best support in game, Most unique builds
Weaknesses: High learning curve, Little utility, No heavy hitting supers
Warlock Abilities
Arc Subclass: Stormcaller
Able to use lightning to eradicate foes (comparable to Emperor Palpatine)
Main Use: DPS/Ad Clear
Solar Subclass: Dawnblade
Either used for disintegrating foes or healing and buffing allies
Main Use: DPS/Healer
Void Subclass: Voidwalker
Using the Void grants you the ability to use supercharged grenades or to heal after every kill
Main Use: DPS
Stasis Subclass: Shadebinder
Keeps enemies frozen with ice turrets, rifts, and your ice staff.
Main Use: Crowd Control/Ad clear
I hope this helped you decide what class to pick in Destiny 2. If you feel like you could do all three, then make all three classes. Whichever class you choose will be an asset to whatever activity you or your team is doing.
